Digital Code of Conduct

There are a few rules that one should follow in the digital world, especially in a business. Employers as well as employees should follow and apply a few netiquette rules. Such as
1.     Make sure that your spelling and grammar is correct. This way people will take you seriously and professional. With incorrect grammar, it would reflect poorly and you and the message you are trying to get through.
2.     Write concisely, do not go on about unnecessary things and get to the point you are trying to get across in your message.
3.     Proofread the message, you do not want to send the message with errors therefore always make sure you re-read and double check what you are about to send.
4.     Always use the correct tone, using words in the wrong way could leave a bad impression. In this case when you send a message, the receiver is not able to read your body language or hear the way you say certain things, therefore check the tone the way you have said things.
5.     Internet messages are permanent, so make sure you don’t say something that you will end up regretting.
6.     Respect, be polite and friendly to people.
7.     Stay professional, do not let personal issues get in the way of your work.
8.     Respect other people’s privacy.
9.     Don’t abuse the power you have online or on social media.
10. Be well behaved as you would be in reality.

The penalties that could apply to not adhering to these rules would be a fine that needs to be paid and a warning.
I would like to enforce this In my business by speaking to my employees and having an agreement as well as signing a contract stating that they understand and will abide by the rules set to them. They must know the consequences of these rules and make sure that they don’t break the rules.
